People First Initiative Offers Relief And Options To Deal With IRS Liens and Levies

On Behalf of | May 28, 2020 | Firm News

Are you presently in an Installment Agreement payment plan?

From the IRS website – “For taxpayers under an existing Installment Agreement, payments due between April 1 and July 15, 2020 are suspended. Taxpayers who are currently unable to comply with the terms of an Installment Payment Agreement, including a Direct Debit Installment Agreement, may suspend payments during this period if they prefer. Furthermore, the IRS will not default any Installment Agreements during this period. By law, interest will continue to accrue on any unpaid balances.”

Liens and garnishments are not being automatically released.  However, now is the best time to contact the IRS and try to negotiate on these matters.  The key is being able to show “economic hardship”.  During this time of COVID-19, that probably will not be difficult.  IRS People First Initiative
